WWE Raw World Tour Metro Radio Arena Friday, November 2

SEEING WWE the World tour was the fulfilment of a promise I made to myself when I was 10.

And after 17 years of waiting, I wasn’t disappointed.

Yes, I had no idea who most of the wrestlers were and sure, it was very theatrical and contrived, but my word it was entertaining.

And while the outcome may be pre-determined as part of some much bigger soap opera style story, there is no doubt that the physicality and athleticism of the combatants is genuine.

The roar of the night was for John Cena, who entered to a blaze of hysteria from my 10-year-old companion Holly.

The fact he was on before the half time break was astonishing, surely he is a main event man.

He took on Dolph Ziggler, a preening blonde who had me in fits of laughter with his prancing and posturing.

I was also delighted to see Kane, a terrifying specimen of a man, and his hilarious tag team partner Daniel Bryan who stropped if he didn’t get his own way in their championship match against Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow.

We were treated to eight bouts including a triple threat match between Layla, Eve and AJ for the women’s belt (lots of hair pulling and bottom slapping), and the USA Championship fight between the brilllaintly villainous Antonio Cesaro and poster boy Zak Ryder.

Of course it was all a bit silly, heroes and villains stuff, but it was genuinely a fun night out and the main event between CM Punk and Ryback was a delight.

My 10-year-old self couldn’t have been happier.
