Vivaldi prepared the opera L’Oracolo in Messenia for Vienna after its premier in 1738 in Venice. Fabio Biondi, who has reconstructed the work from literary and musical sources, leads a triumphant performance, which opened the 2011 Resonanzen festival in the Austrian capital.
A high-powered cast includes Ann Hallenberg, Vivica Genaux and rising soprano Julia Lezhneva.
