THE efforts of a North Yorkshire fundraiser were recognised at the annual meeting of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).
David Burke was awarded the Sam Taylor Cup for organising the most unusual offfarm charity event last year.
The chairman of the North Yorkshire RABI committee and his wife, Betty, organised a dolls’ house fair in Bedale, It raised £1,700 and was so successful that it is now to become an annual event.
Lord Plumb, RABI president, presented the award and praised the volunteers whose contributions help those in need in the farming community.
He said: “We never forget that RABI could not function without these stalwart supporters who give freely of their time and resources to help those less fortunate in the farming community.
“Without the dedication and fundraising activities of the voluntary county committees across England and Wales we would not be able to maintain our support for an increasing number of long-term retired and disabled beneficiaries.”
