URBAN farm shop Weeton's has signed up its 50th local farm supplier.
The store, based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, stocks 1,200 lines of food, including meats, cheeses and preserves, supplied by Yorkshire farmers.
Managing director Andrew Loftus said: "Changing the flagging fortunes of British farming has always been the philosophy underpinning Weeton's and given the recent foot-and-mouth scare, it's more important than ever to support family farming. Ann Robinson's lamb is reared a scant few miles away in Pannal - you can't get much more locally produced, unless you grazed it on the Stray."
The firm sells on average 14 lambs a week and more than 400 sides of beef every year.
Mr Loftus added: "Being described as the future of retailing and having Prince Charles sample our food have been fantastic, but the thing I'm most proud of is that we support 50 local farms."
