REGUS, the global workspace provider, has announced it will be opening a new centre in Newcastle, reflecting the strong demand for flexible, cost-effective workspace in the area.
The facility will occupy three floors of Merchant House, at the heart of Newcastle’s central business district. The site will offer a range of flexible working options for businesses and professionals, including meeting rooms which are bookable by the hour, a drop-in business lounge, office space, day offices and virtual office services.
Demand for flexible workspace is growing steadily as businesses aim to save money on lengthy leases and give employees greater freedom in where and when they work.
Research from Regus shows that 40 per cent of UK workers spend at least two-and-a-half days per week working outside of their main office.
Similarly, a third of UK employers are offering their staff more flexible working options.
Technology makes it possible to “work anywhere”, yet most people prefer an office-style environment to remain productive, motivated and disciplined.
“Regus’ growth and investment in Newcastle is testament to increasing demand for flexible work spaces that offer a productive environment for business people to touch down, meet, co-work or base a business,” said Richard Morris, the company’s UK CEO.
“Merchant House is an exciting addition to our network in the North-East, providing a new centrally-located business base with convenient access to the railway station.
“We expect strong take-up from small local businesses, start-ups and remote workers as well as national firms opening satellite offices and global businesses establishing a footprint in the city.”
