COUNTY Durham Community Foundation recently received a donation of £5,000 from Latimer Hinks Solicitors to add to its grant making fund.
The amount was raised at the firm’s Charity Ball 2014, held at Wynyard Hall. Through an auction and a pound-for-pound matching scheme by HSBC, the event raised more than £16,000 for County Durham Community Foundation, St. Teresa’s Hospice, and numerous smaller charities.
Anne Elliott, marketing partner at Latimer Hinks said: "We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of businesses, clients, colleagues and friends who contributed towards the huge amount raised. Funds are critical to the work of the Foundation in providing care and support to local people and charitable causes in the area."
The amount, presented to the Foundation at their first Women’s Autumn Lunch, will go to the Darlington Champion Latimer Hinks Fund. The fund supports such programs as the Warm and Well Project, run through Age UK Darlington, which aims to distribute clothing, blankets, and information to help elderly citizens survive the winter.
