AS part of our Foundation for Jobs campaign, this column is devoted to a young person so they can issue a "give-me-a-chance" call to local firms.
Name: Luke Nicholson
Age: 16
From: Shildon
Looking for: An apprenticeship
Studying: toolmaking at South West Durham Training in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.
When Luke left Sunnydale School in Shildon he wanted to follow a family tradition and go into toolmaking. The obvious place to start was the highly rated South West Durham Training centre in Newton Aycliffe.
"There is a family history in toolmaking. I really like using precision tools and computer assisted design. I find it really interesting," said Luke.
"I am getting the opportunity to go to Germany in February for two weeks. We will be visiting the engineering company Siemens, which is really exciting."
Luke would describe himself as hard-working, conscientious and a good time-keeper. "I would say I was also very outgoing, friendly and I get on with other people."
Any employer who might be able to help Luke in his quest is asked to call 01325-505075 or you can also email barry.nelson@nne.co.uk
