KING Sturge Property Consultants recently hosted a ‘killer’ pool tournament in aid of their chosen charity, Grace House North East Children’s Hospice Appeal.
The tournament, held at Yates’ wine bar in Newcastle city centre, attracted over 50 surveyors, solicitors and others linked to the property market.
The event was part of King Sturge’s 1760 charity appeal, which aims to raise £250,000 for charity throughout the course of the year to mark the company’s 250th anniversary.
The Newcastle office will continue to support the Grace House Appeal, which has now received planning permission to build a six-bedroom children’s hospice at Southwick, in Sunderland.
Kathy Secker, founder of the Grace House Appeal, said: “We are incredibly excited that plans are moving forward to build the hospice, which is now due to start on site next month.
“We are very grateful to the staff at King Sturge who have organised some excellent fund-raising activities and continue to support our cause.”
Emily Bosanquet, of King Sturge, who organised the event said: “The pool tournament was very well received and we now plan to hold a sequel next year, which will give the winner, Richard Lomax, of Eversheds, the opportunity to defend his title.”
The pool tournament is one of many recent fund-raising activities carried out by staff at King Sturge’s Newcastle office, who have previously donated over £8,000 to local charities by participating in a number of events.
These include an 84-mile walk along Hadrian’s Wall, a 96-mile cycle ride from Newcastle to Leeds, and a 1,400-mile car rally from France to Italy.
