A NORTH Yorkshire company has been chosen to produce components for a device helping businesses improve energy efficiency.
Icon Electronics, based in Knaresborough, will produce components for EMU System’s new energy monitoring device, called edd:e.
Edd:e, which has a global patent pending, measures the use of electricity, temperature and humidity in commercial properties.
The device developed by Jarrow- based EMU measures power at an individual circuit level and delivers real-time data to a website which can be accessed by customers 24 hours a day.
Icon Electronics, based at the Knaresborough Technology Park,is part of the AEI Electronics Group.
Commercial manager Tracy Court said: “We are all delighted to be involved during this exciting launch phase. We are looking forward to working with the EMU team in the coming months and developing edd:e into a market leading product.”
EMU System’s commercial director Charlie Wainwright said: “We believe Icon Electronics can add real value to our edd:e proposition.
“The team has impressed us with their knowledge and expertise and we’re confident they can help us position edd:e at the forefront of energy monitoring technology.”
Data from test sites shows energy reductions of between seven and 27 per cent. Test sites include Commercial Utility Brokers Ltd in Jarrow, South Tyneside.
