LOTTERY funds are to help young people tame the region’s wildest places.
Durham County Council has secured Big Lottery Fund money to encourage young people to explore, discover and conserve the environment.
The council will appoint an officer for three years to develop and promote the award.
David Etheridge, from the council, said: “The post-holder will work with a whole range of organisations, including schools and youth services, and encourage a greater environmental awareness, especially among young people.”
