MAKING sure that your business is complying with regulations and meeting tax deadlines is a key responsibility of management.
However, sometimes it is difficult to keep track of changing legal requirements and identifying those that apply to your business and require action.
Business Link’s My Business function is an online support service to make it easier to stay informed, keep up-to-date with legal matters and manage your responsibilities.
Available at businesslink.gov.uk/ northeast, the service invites entrepreneurs to create a personal profile by answering a number of questions about their businesses. My Business uses these profiles to identify laws, regulations, licences and permits which apply to you.
Businesses can save and update their profile to ensure that the information they receive through My Business is relevant and up-to-date.
Registering with My Business also enables businesses to access Government Gateway, which allows businesses to communicate and make transactions with the Government from a single point of entry.
Businesses can use Government Gateway to enrol for one or more Government service, including self assessment, PAYE internet services for employers and electronic VAT returns.
My Business also provides companies with a wide range of business support information and advice on subjects including employing people, international trade, starting up and the environment.
It includes online tools to help businesses create a written statement of employment, covering terms and conditions which they legally have to give to an employee, and a guide to good health and safety practices.
Partially-completed tools can be saved for completion at a later date.
Business Link’s substantial team of expert brokers operate across the region in local access points and on a mobile basis.
