Two new, high specification industrial units have been completed at Nelson Park, Cramlington.
Comprising 981.7sqm (10,567sqft) and 1,483.8sqm (15,972sqft) respectively the buildings represent a capital investment of £1.2m by Buildings For Business, the joint venture between UK Land Estates and One NorthEast.
Built by STP Construction, the units offer large, self-contained service yards and storage space. This development is one of 13 sites in the region being developed by Buildings for Business.
Peter Holmes, senior development surveyor for UK Land Estates, said: "Nelson Park Industrial Estate is a strategic site north of the River Tyne situated on the outskirts of Cramlington and within a few minutes of the A1 and A189 spine road.
"The estate has already attracted a lot of high-profile tenants and this new development will hopefully fill the market requirement for good quality industrial premises."
A number of similar projects have commenced in the North-East as part of UK Land's commitment to developing out opportunities where they arise.
Not only are these schemes creating a number of new local jobs, they are also creating sustainable business opportunities.
Other projects under construction or recently completed are 2 20,000sqft units at Teesside Industrial Estate, nine hybrid units at Boldon Business Park and a 6,200sqft office at Balliol Business Park.
Nick Atkinson, of DTZ Debenham Tie Leung said: "There has been a lot of developer interest in Cramlington over the past 12/24 months and we are aware of a number of small unit schemes that have taken place and let/sold extremely well.
"Such is the increased level of activity in the town that we anticipate these units will attract a high volume of interest.
"The units are to be offered for sale as well as to let and that should prove attractive to the market."
