SHOPPING can be thirsty work, but thanks to businesswomen Tracey Russell and Claire Ballentine, customers can buy cards and gifts, plus enjoy a coffee and a bite to eat all under one roof at Number 4, the newcafe and gift shop they opened in Langley Park.
Number 4 Coffee, Gifts & More was an idea Tracey and Claire had harboured for a long time, but in May this year suitable premises became available in their village.
The pair were handed the keys for number 4 Coop Buildings in July and with the help of family and friends, a plain shop interior was transformed in just nine weeks.
Tracey and Claire hope that by opening Number 4 they are giving their local community something that has been lacking in the village, a place where people can socialise as well as shop for beautiful cards, gifts and home accessories.
Their aim is to target local customers and also attract people from further afield.
Number 4 offers a takeaway service selling breakfasts, fresh sandwiches, paninis, sweet treats and home-made cakes, as well as a welcoming cafe area.
Customers can browse in The Gift Room, with cave items including scarves, jewellery, baby and wedding products. Services include personalising cards and various gifts, and there’s a wish list service for anyone wanting to keep on record products they like for someone else to buy.
Tracey and Claire have plans to make Number 4 the ideal place to find those perfect presents and cards – then relax in style with a hot cup of something Christmassy and a plate of festive treats.
An upstairs function room is proving a great success in giving people access to services not found in Langley Park before. The room is already being used by other local businesses to provide services such as family photography, children’s cake decorating classes and soft play.
Tracey and Claire both feel that, if their business is a success, it can have a positive knock-on effect for the local community and other businesses in the area.
