A TRAINING provider is now helping nurture the largest group of students in its history.
The TTE Technical Training Group says it has welcomed more than 300 youngsters to its courses, meaning it now has about 600 learners on its books.
The new starters have begun engineering-based studies at its base in South Bank, near Middlesbrough.
TTE, initially founded as a joint venture company by ICI and British Steel to develop apprentices, has supported more than 6,500 youngsters and technicians on industry qualifications since its formation 25 years ago.
It works with engineering, oil and gas and manufacturing companies to bring on the next generation.
Steve Grant, TTE managing director, said: “The start of the academic year is always an exciting time when we welcome young people full of ambition, aiming to forge the skills and capabilities necessary to take their first step in to industry.
“They have the advantage of training with professionals that have delivered skills and competencies to technicians and individuals around the world, which ensures their development is relevant and focused on industry requirements.
“Each year we look to increase our intake and with the help of local businesses, who can support and sponsor our trainees, we hope to overcome the industry-wide skills gap.”
