A CONSTRUCTION firm is giving two youngsters the chance to get on the career ladder.
RPD Builders, in Billingham, near Stockton, has taken on Nathan Tonks as an apprentice electrician and James Dodsworth as an apprentice bricklayer.
The company has worked alongside Stockton Riverside College to give the duo their chance.
The 16-year-olds, who attended St Michaels Academy, in Billingham, will start their apprenticeships in the summer, before attending college in September.
Peter Davison, RPD owner, said: “I firmly believe in creating opportunities for young people and, following the growth of the company over the last year, this has allowed us to welcome Nathan and James.
“By giving them both hands-on experience to learn a trade, together with an education, this will help with their progression, allowing them to start their dream careers and help take us forward.
“During the economic downturn, we were unable to take on apprentices, so being able to take on two now is fantastic.
“We are looking forward to Nathan and James becoming part of the team.”
Founded in 2001, RPD works on house modifications, such as extensions and conversions, as well as commercial projects.
