A TRAINING charity is delivering qualifications specially created for a sugar supplier.
The TTE Technical Training Group, in South Bank, near Middlesbrough, is working with British Sugar and awarding body PAA\VQ-SET.
It says the partnership aims to hone workers’ skills alongside site assessments at British Sugar’s factories.
Bosses said 16 apprentices are undergoing the programme, with PAA\VQ-SET creating a number of level three qualifications for British Sugar.
They added the units, which cover manufacturing, health and safety and product quality, have been verified and awarded a gold standard by industry body Cogent.
Steve Grant, TTE managing director, said: “These industry-standard training programmes will arm apprentices with skills and competencies that will help them become effective members of the workforce.
“British Sugar’s drive towards best practice has resulted in the creation of comprehensive training units, which are now underpinned by industry-recognised qualifications and we are delighted to be supporting the company.”
Paul Stringer, British Sugar’s operations development manager, added: “PAA\VQ-SET’s customised service, together with the support of TTE, has enhanced our framework for workforce skills and competency.”
British Sugar has factories in Peterborough, Norfolk and Suffolk, and claims to be the UK’s leading sugar supplier.
