A BEAUTY therapy student is setting sail with her skills after securing place on a luxury cruise liner.
Frances Boyle, from Consett, County Durham, will work in the spa on a ship destined for the Bahamas and Caribbean.
The 19-year-old Derwentside College student previously completed a level two diploma in beauty therapy, before moving on to a level three course, which equipped her with skills needed to join London’s Steiner Training Academy.
Steiner, which has operated spas and salons at sea for more than 50 years, works with cruise firms such as Royal Caribbean, Cunard and P&O.
She said: “I had always known my long-term career plan was to work for Steiner, so I could see the world while doing a job I love.
“That’s why I was determined to succeed at the interview for the Steiner Academy.
“I was so thrilled to learn I had secured a place and would soon be leaving Consett to embark on my dream career.”
Nicola Scheel, beauty therapy course tutor, said Miss Boyle had fantastic skills.
She added: “Since Frances began studying at the college, we’ve seen her develop into an outstanding young professional who has faced challenges head on.
“We are looking forward to seeing how her exciting career at sea develops.”
