TWO college students are looking to the future after securing trainee engineering jobs.
Tshering Lama and James Sutherland, from Redcar and Cleveland College, are working at test equipment company Inlec, in Stokesley, North Yorkshire.
The pair are both studying a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in instrumentation and control.
Tshering, 20, and James, 19, work four days a week at Inlec, combining their career with college studies.
They were recommended to the firm by tutor Brian Lewis.
James, who is from Marton, near Middlesbrough, completed an access to higher education course at the college, which allowed him to move to a HNC.
The former Nunthorpe School pupil said: “I only started on the HNC course three months ago, so I'm really pleased to have found a job already.
“It’s perfect for me because I love fixing things and finding faults with equipment and putting them right, and it’s great to put the college theory into practice.”
Tshering, from Redcar, added: “I love engineering and this is a very practical job, which is perfect for me. “It’s a career I can really build on.”
Rolf McCullagh, Inlec's managing director, added: “I was told that they were both bright and hard working and they have certainly proved that since coming here.
“It’s excellent to bring new, young people in to work alongside existing employees.
“They get great training and experience working with the team, and there are so many opportunities out there for qualified engineers.
“This is just the beginning for them.”
