THE Heerema yard in Hartlepool yard has completed work on a North Sea oil module for BP.
The 750-tonne, 90ft high structure has now set sail to the Andrew oil field. The project, which started early last year, supported about 180 jobs at the yard and local supply chain.
Spokesman Ken Scott said it had been very challenging with many design changes during the process.
“The BP module has been constructed as a so-called bolt-on process module,” he said.
“This means that the whole process module will be positioned on the side of the existing platform, on two huge hinge pins placed into two engagement hooks welded onto the existing BP Andrew platform
