VERTU Motors, which is the parent company for car retailer Bristol Street Motors, is celebrating the success of staff working at its call centre in Gateshead, which also has ten vacancies.
The company is recruiting staff and is keen to dispel the myths surrounding the muchmaligned workplaces.
Call centre staff Caroline Holborn, Lois Turnbull, Charlene Haworth and Abi Leech have achieved NVQs in business administration and have been developing their skills further with the help of the company.
Ms Howarth said: “There are a lot of assumptions made about call centres and what type of work is available.
“Each member of the call centre is a valued member of the team and not just a number. One of the main differences to other companies is that Bristol Street Motors offers training and qualifications for those who want to develop their skills.”
Ms Leach, 17, said: “This is the first job I’ve had since leaving school and I feel very lucky to be in a position where training is available and there is an opportunity to progress up the career ladder.”
