FIRE crews were called to a steel plant in the early hours of this morning after a spillage of molten steel.
The incident took place at 6.30am at the SSI steel plant in Redcar when a ladle carrying molten steel spilled its contents into a safety pit below.
The fire brigade spent about an hour on site.
SSI spokesman John Baker said: "This was a minor incident and there were no injuries to personnel, no damage to the plant and no interruption to our operations. We will carry out an investigation to see why this happened."
