MARK ALLISON - aka Run Geordie Run - has been onoured as the North East England Communicator of the Year 2011 at the Pride awards hosted by the North East Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).

He received the special award for his communication achievements during his spectacular fundraising feats. His marathon across USA was covered in national print and broadcast media. In particular, however, he also enthusiastically and effectively used social media to keep in touch with his family and followers. The awards ceremony at the NewcastleGateshead Hilton was attended by public relations professional from across the region as well as journalists and national CIPR representatives.

The winners of a total of 22 categories were announced with Gold Award recipients from in-house and agency teams from Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland, Sunderland, Chester le Street, Newcastle and Northumberland.

The award is given to someone the media believes provides an excellent service, on behalf of their organisation or clients.
