A PACKAGING company looking to cut 2,000 jobs across its global operations could not rule out its North-East facilities being affected.
Employees at SCA Packaging UK, based in Darlington and with operations at Spennymoor, County Durham and Newcastle, could potentially be amongst staff affected.
The firm's Swedish parent company the SCA Group announced this week it was planning to cut the 2,000 employees across its subsiduaries as part of "efficiency enhancement measures."
Last night a spokesman for the SCA Group confirmed that the UK operations could not be ruled out of the measures.
However he added: "We haven't said any location or even country."
The packaging side of the business, employing around 930 staff in the UK, produces display packaging. The parent group makes paper and hygiene products.
