A TEES Valley technology company has continued its commitment to creating jobs in the region by opening a recovery centre that helps businesses stay operational when disaster strikes.
The centre, based at Onyx Group’s Stockton headquarters, is the only facility of its kind in Teesside, providing an alternative workplace that allows businesses to transfer operations and employees to a second office during an emergency.
The centre will be opened today by Stockton North MP Alex Cunningham and represents the ongoing expansion of Onyx.
Chief executive Neil Stephenson said: “At a time of cutbacks, job losses and general doom and gloom, it’s good to talk about something positive that is happening in the region.
“Deciding to open another facility in the region also shows how important the North-East is to Onyx Group.
The region is where our heritage lies and remains important to our business plans. Investment here is a priority and it always will be.”
Mr Cunningham said: “With companies such as Onyx continuing to innovate, providing first-class service as well as investing in infrastructure to support the business community, we are sure to cement our reputation as a knowledge-based economy.”
