THE North Yorkshire-born head of a regional development agency is to leave his post to take up a new role.
Tom Riordan, who was given the task of setting up Yorkshire Forward in 1997, has been appointed chief executive at Leeds City Council.
The appointment still needs to be formally approved at a meeting of the council next week, but it is expected Mr Riordan will join England’s second biggest metropolitan council in the autumn and could earn up to £196,000.
A committee of senior councillors representing the five political groups across Leeds have unanimously recommended Mr Riordan, who was born and educated in Northallerton.
