A CHEF is returning to his home town for his latest role.
Alex Doughty has been appointed head chef of The West Park Cafe, in West Park Village, Darlington.
The 33-year-old, originally from the town, joins after a six-year stint as sous chef under Terry Laybourne at Cafe 21, in Newcastle.
The move reunites Mr Doughty with West Park Cafe owner Andrew Henley, who he worked with while he was head chef at Hide, in Durham.
Mr Henley, who opened the Darlington restaurant in 2008, said: “I’m delighted to be working with Alex again.
He completes our team and I am excited as to what he can bring to the cafe this year.”
