A PHYSIOTHERAPIST at one of Darlington’s major employers has set up her own consultancy business.
Samantha Kee, the on-site physiotherapist at engine maker Cummins, in Darlington, has set up Kee Anatomy Consultancy to offer employers guidance on overcoming the costly burden of employees who are suffering from musculoskeletal disorders (MSD).
MSD, which includes back pain and joint injuries, is the most common cause of workplace ill health.
Such injuries cost companies in the UK an estimated £5.7bn a year through time off work.
Courses run by Ms Kee’s look at how businesses can go “back to basics” by dealing with issues including manual handling and ergonomics awareness.
Ms Kee said: “Understanding how the human body works is the catalyst to enabling employees to actively change the way they do activities in and out of the workplace.
“Encouraging employees to become more involved in looking after their own bodies actively promotes good health and well-being and makes good business sense.
