ENTREPRENEURS are being given the opportunity to test run their business with less of the associated risks.
Retail space at the In-Shops mall, in Bishop Auckland, has been allocated for people wanting to start a business, with fewer risks than going it alone.
Occupants can test their business for up to six weeks in working hours and a real trading environment, with onsite support from Wear Valley and Teesdale Enterprise Agency and Business and Enterprise North-East.
It is hoped the scheme will give a short, sharp boost to the local economy by giving entrepreneurs a chance to turn a business dream into a reality while filling an empty space in the high street.
Regional development agency One North East has donated £100,000 towards the pilot project, known as the Enterprise Arcade, which runs until the end of March.
It will be led by County Durham Enterprise Agency.
About 20 people referred through One North East-funded schemes will use the space, with the ultimate aim of creating ten businesses.
