A NORTH-EAST engineering plant has won a multi-millionpound contract from a power company.
Siemens’ Newcastle operation has secured a ten-year business agreement with ScottishPower.
The contract for parts, shop repairs and field service for three gas turbines, generators and a steam turbine at Rye House power station, in Hertfordshire, commenced on New Year’s Day.
The contract will be managed by the Siemens project and order management teams based in Newcastle, with all required site works executed by the field service team.
The contract follows a successful five-year business agreement between Siemens and ScottishPower, signed in 2005.
Carl Ennis, of Siemens, said: “This is a very important contract to the Newcastle facility.
“The project not only secures the service business for the next ten years, but also assists long term business planning.”
This latest contract win follows multi-million pound deals Siemens has signed with Rio Tinto Alcan and RWE npower in recent months.
