A PUBLICAN has joined forces with a wine buyer to start an inn-based business.
Simon Jackson and Edward Boynton have created Jackson- Boynton Wines, which is based at the Nag’s Head pub, in Pickhill, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
The men hatched their business plan over a few drinks and now they stock more than 400 wines and champagnes ranging from £5 to £100 a bottle.
Mr Boynton said: “I’ve always sold the odd bottle to my regulars, but I think the market is there now to step up and offer a much broader range.
“We both know our wines and they will have to pass our taste test to guarantee quality before we offerany of them to our customers.”
Mr Jackson is a former wine buyer and operations director for international merchants Playford Ros.
Wine tasting evenings will eventually be held at the pub.
