FODDER, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s flagship food hall, has been singled out as one of the ten best butchers’ shops in England.

The award-winning food hall, at the Great Yorkshire Showground, in Harrogate, opened in June. It will find out if it has won the national title at a lunch at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, later this month.

Fodder was selected from a record number of entries to The Butchers’ Shop of the Year Awards competition, run by the Meat Trades Journal.

Paul Nicholson, the master butcher at Fodder, said: “We are absolutely delighted to make the top ten, as we take our meat very seriously.

“People initially come to Fodder for the experience, but they return for the quality of our meat.

“Our aim is to reinvent the concept of the local butcher and tempt customers away from the supermarket to buy quality locally-reared meat.”
