A SIGN-MAKING company based in County Durham has been taken over by a fatherand- son team.

Signs Express, in Darlington, has been bought by Daniel Pickersgill and his father Glenn, who are taking over the business from Ray Newell.

The business has been in operation in the town’s Yarm Road Industrial Estate since 2002, and Glenn Pickersgill first discovered it when he bought signs while he was owner of North-East care home operator Supreme Care Homes.

Signs Express, part of a national franchise, already has an extensive client base across the wide area it covers – which includes Darlington and South-West Durham, Chester-le-Street, Yarm, and Ripon, Northallerton and Catterick in North Yorkshire – which the Pickersgills are now hoping to grow further.

Daniel will take charge of the day-to-day running of the Henson Road business, while his father will play a background role.

Glenn Pickersgill said that in the few weeks they have been operating the business, things have gone “exceedingly well”.

“My eldest son Daniel and I have been looking for a business venture to work together on, and I had very good experience of Signs Express from buying signs from there in the past, so we knew it was a great opportunity,” he said.
