A NORTH-EAST mechanic trained by legendary motorbike maker Harley-Davidson has gone into business customising bikes.
Sledgehammer Customs, owned by Jamaican-born Jerry Barzey, specialises in building, servicing and repairing Harley-Davidson motorbikes, as well as makes such as Triumph and BSA.
His service comprises everything from basic repairs to complete overhauls and customisation of bikes with intricate paintwork.
Mr Barzey, who trained at the Harley-Davidson factory in Frankfurt, said: “The nearest Harley dealerships are in Newcastle or Leeds. That’s a long way to go for a spark plug.
“In Darlington, we are right in between, so it’s a lot easier for our customers to get here.
“It’s always been an ambition of mine to open my own place. I’ve worked in bikes shops for years all over Europe.
“Training at the Harley- Davidson factory in Frankfurt sealed it for me. I knew soon I would want to make a go of it on my own.”
Sledgehammer Customs is currently taking bookings. Mr Barzey can be contacted on 07825-750297.
