A MEAT supply business started from a freezer in a garage four years ago is to open its fifth outlet in the region.
Eight jobs will be created when Meat Trader North-East completes the conversion of the former Euro Suites premises, in Gilesgate, Durham City.
Work is under way fitting out the premises, as part of a £250,000 investment.
It will lead to the creation of four full-time and four parttime jobs.
Meat Trader, orginally called Ashbrooke Foods, was started four years ago in Sunderland.
It initially supplied butchers’ shops and caterers from a freezer in a garage, with two delivery vans and two employees.
It now supplies the general public from retail factory outlets.
The company has other premises at Team Valley, in Gateshead, at Leechmere, in Sunderland, and two in South Shields, with a 28-strong workforce.
