JOBS will be created when a North Yorkshire Little Chef becomes one of the first three in the country to feature chef Heston Blumenthal’s menu.

The restaurant at York will feature a menu overhauled by the triple Michelin-star chef.

Blumenthal spent three months devising the menu as part of the Channel 4 series Big Chef Takes on Little Chef.

The programme featured North Yorkshire chef Anne England, who has worked at a Little Chef near Skeeby for the past 20 years.

Following a cook-off with colleagues from around the country, Ms England was branded the worst of the bunch, and chosen by Mr Blumenthal for special training – the idea being that if she could learn to cook, so could all Little Chef staff.

The menu was introduced at the chain’s Popham branch, near Winchester, last year, initially to a mixed reaction.

But dishes including braised ox cheeks, vegetable and beer casserole and a healthier Olympic breakfast have led to a roaring trade.

The menu will be introduced at York and Kettering within weeks, following the refurbishment of both sites, which will create a minimum of 35 jobs.
