A DESIGN and marketing agency has laid itself bare by asking employees to get naked as a means to increase positivity and productivity for a TV documentary.
Newcastle-based onebestway and its online sister company angelfysh have taken part in a Naked Office experiment, aimed at building relationships and profits, to test a revolutionary approach to work developed for the Virgin1 channel by international business and leadership guru David Taylor, author of the best-selling Naked Leader trilogy.
During a week-long consultation with Mr Taylor, he worked with staff to confront their psychological approach to work and take down the physical barriers in the office.
Mr Taylor’s theory, which he has promoted around the world, is that shedding clothes acts an equalizer – once there is a level playing field, teams will be smarter, more honest and transparent with each other and push in one direction, which leads to better business success.
Mr Taylor said: “The entire team bought into the challenge, which involved baring a little more each day, both in a physical sense and emotionally.
This is a business strategy – it’s not about nudity, but being comfortable with each other and bonding in order to take a company forward.”
The Naked Office documentary airs at 9pm, next Thursday on Virgin1.
