A GROUP of walkers from a North-East law firm have raised hundreds of pounds for a hospice.

The 15 women from Gordon Brown Associates took part in a Midnight Walk organised by St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Durham.

The women, including staff from the firm’s offices in Chester-le-Street, Sunderland, Newcastle, Houghton le Spring and Low Fell, followed a 10km route around the Aykley Heads area of Durham City.

The walk, on Saturday, June 20, combined with a charity night at Chester-le-Street Cricket Club centred around the Champions League Final, means staff from the law firm have raised £890 for the hospice in recent weeks.

Gordon Brown, senior partner at Gordon Brown Associates, said: “Both the football night and the Midnight Walk were great ways to get people involved in raising money for St Cuthbert’s Hospice.

“It’s not only an opportunity to socialise in aid of a good cause, but also to joined clients for the Champions League final so we were able to engage others in helping with our fundraising efforts.”
