DEMAND for a temporary home for students’ belongings has led to an increase in business for a North-East storage company.

Box Clever targeted students at Teesside University, who are leaving the region to return home for the summer.

The Billingham company is offering the secure solution as an alternative to leaving valuables unattended over the summer break.

Fiona Tinman, of Box Clever, said: “There are thousands of students who leave Teesside every summer, but their belongings stay behind in rented accommodation or their parents pick them up.

“We went along to the university and got lots of inquiries, particularly from overseas students, who are going to be out of the country for up three months. It’s a new market for us but one we realised was untapped and we’re going back during Fresher’s week to speak to the students again.”

Box Clever is one of the UK’s few mobile storage companies, which means customers do not have the hassle of renting a van. Instead, the business brings the storage unit to your front door for you to fill before returning it to its storage depot.

Its primary markets are with businesses and traders looking to store valuable equipment or machinery and property owners decluttering their homes, and also offers an archiving service for the storage of documents and files from cluttered and over-crowded offices.
