A DOOR firm has celebrated 40 years at its North-East factory.

PC Henderson, which survived a closure threat last year, is now focusing on making sliding doors at its plant in Bowburn, County Durham.

Bosses plan to invest £900,000 over the next three years and want to develop products and markets.

Managing director Duncan Moncrieff said: “We have a fantastic team here at Henderson’s and they have worked hard to make our products world class. Sales have been maintained despite the economic climate and the company remains very positive for the future, embarking on an ambitious three-year product development programme in January.”

Durham City MP Roberta Blackman-Woods, who met company bosses and was given a tour of the factory recently, said: “I’m really impressed.

“I wanted to come back and see how things were developing and also help them celebrate 40 years.”

PC Henderson was founded in 1921, moving to Bowburn in 1969.
