A CHEESE with an unusual ingredient is to be stocked by a major supermarket chain.
Real Yorkshire Wensleydale with ginger, made by The Wensleydale Creamery, in Hawes, North Yorkshire, has been selected by leading retailer Morrisons as a “feature flavour” cheese.
The cheese is to be sold on the deli counters of 380 of the company’s stores for eight weeks.
Customers will also be able to try before they buy, with samples being available in store at selected times.
The cheese blend combines Real Yorkshire Wensleydale with Australian buderim ginger, which is regarded as the world’s finest ginger, and noted for its quality, mild taste and golden colour It is estimated that up to ten tonnes of the cheese will be sold during the two-month period.
Morrisons’ buyer Daniel Clee said: “Our customers love to try new cheese flavours from our deli counters and the taste of this traditional cheese recipe with a mouth-watering twist is sure to tickle shoppers’ tastebuds.”
