A SITE manager at a North-East civil engineering firm has been recognised for the consideration he showed while leading developments at a prison.
Brian Paterson is believed to be the first person in the country to receive a Considerate Constructor award for work at a prison site.
Mr Paterson, a site manager for Teesside civil engineering firm Henderson Campbell, was in charge at HMP Stocken, in Leicestershire, where the firm was building accommodation units, a workshop, gymnasium, kitchen and storage unit and refurbishing several other areas.
He received a bronze certificate in the awards – a national scheme created to improve the image of the construction industry.
Inspectors said high standards were reached in categories covering the environment, cleanliness, neighbours, respect, safety, responsiblity and accountability.
Henderson Campbell is a preferred supplier to the Ministry of Justice, and has been involved in the construction or extension of secure units in the UK for the past 15 years.
It is currently working at Kirklevington Prison, Yarm, near Stockton.
