A FANCY dress company has seen a surprise upturn in business, despite the recession.
Although it might have been thought the economic downturn would spell the end for parties and major celebrations, Premier Party has found the opposite to be true.
The firm, founded in Sutton Street, Durham City, in 2001, has opened another branch, in the city’s Indoor Market.
Founder and owner Sarah Webb said: “The one thing we have learnt is that the people of Durham certainly know how to throw a good party.
“Despite the recent economic downturn, this has certainly not been reflected in our sales and our customers are definitely still coming. It is almost as if people are showing an even greater interest in having a good time, especially throughout this recession.”
The Premier Party stall replaces the long-standing Jokers shop, which closed when its owner retired a few weeks ago.
Ms Webb said: “It’s great to finally be able to get such a fantastic position within the market.
“Throwing a good party is the perfect antidote to recessional depression and we’re glad to be here to help.”
