North-East Bakery will launch its Nichols store in Saddler Street, Durham City on Monday.
It is the first of two Nichols stores, with the second shop set to open in Eldon Square, Newcastle, next month. Together they will create 16 new jobs and North-East Bakery’s total number of shops across the North-East to 14.
The company, founded five years ago and based in Newburn, Newcastle, has a total workforce of more than 140.
North-East Bakery managing director Greg Phillips said: “We’re excited to be opening the Durham.”
