AN architect responsible for ensuring Manhattan’s iconic skyline remains impressive is hoping to have input in the future regeneration of the North-East.
David Burney, commissioner of design and construction for the city of New York, will give a lecture in the region next week.
The lecture has been organised to mark the launch of the North- East Design Review and Enabling Service, which is managed by Ignite – the Regional Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Communities in North-East England.
Design Review is an independent peer review service offering free advice to help people achieve good design and advise how to address planning and sustainability requirements.
Mr Burney, who was born in Liverpool and went to New York to work on projects including the Rose Building at Lincoln Center and the Zeckendorf Towers, in Union Square, will deliver the open lecture at Newcastle University’s Herschel Building on Tuesday, at 3.30pm. Those interested in attending the lecture is asked to contact Kim Watson on 0191-229-6301 or turn up on the day.
