A FIRM of architects founded in Teesside more than 100 years ago has merged with a national company.
Dewjo’c Architects, which was founded in Middlesbrough in 1900, and has offices in Newcastle and London, has merged with Devereux Architects.
The practice, which will be known as Devereux Architects, will have more than 150 staff, making it one of the largest architecture firms in the North-East.
Peter Walker, managing director of Dewjo’c, will become managing director of the merged firm in the North, and have a seat on the board of Irish-based PM Group, which owns Devereux.
He said: “This move represents an exciting opportunity.
“Devereux Architects is already one of the top 50 practices in the UK and is now expected to join the top 20 following the merger.
“The merger will strengthen us considerably.”
Nic Allen, managing director of London-based Devereux Architects, said: “We are delighted to have merged with Dewjo’c, as we believe the two groups complement each other perfectly.”
