A JEWELLERY company which operates throughout the world and whose bracelets are worn by celebrities is making its move in the UK by setting up in the North-East.

US-based Chamilia, which designs and makes silver and gold beaded jewellery, has set up sales and distribution in Newcastle. Its bracelets are worn by celebrities including tennis player Venus Williams, and actress Denise Richards, and the brand is sold throughout the US.

The move has created 20 jobs, with the prospect of more to follow, and marks the first step in Chamilia’s planned expansion and marketing strategy. The jewellery, one of the leading ranges in the US, is similar to Pandora’s collection of charms and beads for bracelets and necklaces, which is fast becoming among the fastest-growing jewellery brands in the world.

Sisters Karen and Lesley Moore, who have worked in the jewellery industry for more than 20 years, have been appointed to lead the growth plans.
