BUSINESS solutions provider ITPS has won a contract to develop an innovative eco-friendly and multilingual infrastructure to help with a North-East company’s expansion into Germany.

The company has won the deal with Newcastle-based property group Grainger plc, which is opening an office in Frankfurt.

The contract was finalised after an eight-year relationship between Gateshead-based ITPS and Grainger, the UK’s biggest residential property owner, which follows the implementation of new IT solutions for two of the property company’s offices elsewhere in Europe.

The system being installed in Frankfurt is based on IBM’s Blade- Center S, which is one of the greenest options on the market. The programme is up to 50 per cent more energy efficient than rack or tower servers, and has built-in technology that plans and controls power and cooling needs.

ITPS put the infrastructure together at its headquarters in the North-East as a means to minimise the risk before being shipped to Germany.

It will, once fully installed, support up to 50 staff, and will link in to Grainger’s sites in the UK and across Europe.

Mike Wardle, Grainger’s IT director, said: “As the UK’s largest quoted residential property owner, and with management responsibility for over 26,000 properties in the UK and Germany, we need an IT infrastructure that can fully support the current and future needs of our business activities in the UK and Europe, and we have faith in ITPS’s ability to provide that.”

George Galloway, director of ITPS, said: “This new technology platform is a business-critical solution for Grainger, which was one of the reasons we opted to create the complete infrastructure here before shipping it across to Germany. We were conscious that Grainger was reliant on our expertise to minimise any risk.

“Having everything configured and tested in advance of delivery means seamless integration and data migration onsite, with minimum disruption to users.

“The new solution will deliver immediate efficiency benefits and has the flexibility to change in line with business needs.

“BladeCenter S contains an incredible amount of functionality in one small package and will deliver big benefits for Grainger’s German operations."
