A DIGITAL marketing agency has announced one of the North-East’s most prominent business individuals as its new non-executive chair.

Former Watson Burton senior partner and deals specialist, Gillian Hall, will spearhead Mediaworks’ rapid growth plans, with the business targeting an ambitious £10 million in revenue over the next 12 months.

The appointment of Ms Hall, who also holds non-executive positions with the Port of Blyth and the North-East Local Enterprise Partnership where she chairs the Innovation Board, comes off the back of a 12-month high for Mediaworks, which has seen monthly revenues grow by more than 50 per cent, despite continued economic uncertainty owing to the UK’s Covid-19 situation.

The business, which also has operations in Leeds, London and Edinburgh, as well as its Newcastle HQ, has added 44 staff across all divisions, bringing the current headcount to 132, with more recruitment underway.

Ms Hall said: “Mediaworksis already a huge success story for the North-East and is embarking on an exciting upwards trajectory.

“I’d like to think I can help the business navigate the journey ahead.

“The team is brilliant – young, innovative, and with the drive and ambition to take the Mediaworks business to new levels.”

Through the last 12 months, Mediaworks has picked up national and international digital marketing briefs from the likes of Cath Kidston, Dune London, Johnson & Johnson, Miele and LADbible Group.

Launched by CEO and owner Brett Jacobson 13 years ago in Newcastle, Mediaworks now delivers a range of digital services, including SEO, PPC, and conversion rate optimisation across four UK sites. Early in 2020, it added a rapidly growing brand development team based in Leeds to the business and now delivers end to end intelligent digital marketing solutions to national and international clients.

Mediaworks now delivers a range of digital services, including a full complement of performance marketing services, brand strategy, and digital transformation across four UK sites.

Brett Jacobson said: “Gillian is someone I’ve enjoyed many in depth business discussions with and I’m thrilled she’s now part of the Mediaworks team.

“Her peerless track record and unrivalled commercial experience is a combination I know will help us enormously.

“Now, more than ever, we’re clear that our unique combination of creativity, data, technology and strategy is fuelling future online performance for organisations across all sectors.

“Gillian’s reputation in the Northern business community is second to none.

“As we evolve as an agency in helping clients take ownership of their future, I’m enormously excited that she will be part of ours.”
