DISTILLERS in the Dales are using their expertise to create crucial hand sanitiser which is being given free to NHS staff, care works and front line staff across Wensleydale and Swaledale.
Taplin & Mageean Spirit Company based in Leyburn in normal times focuses on their award winning ultra-premium craft gins, but in response to the Covid 19 pandemic has switched some of its production to making 80per cent alcohol hand sanitiser.
Managing Director Chris Taplin said: "As we began to see the effects of the pandemic on front line resources and the impact this was having on people continuing to work for the benefit of all of us, we were determined to do what we could to help. We sourced the ingredients needed to make the approved recipe for the sanitiser, and went straight into production.
"We are providing the alcohol hand rub free to local NHS, care workers, and front-line staff, and it's also available for a nominal charge nationwide." Since going into production the company has received a letter of thanks from Chancellor and local MP Rishi Sunak.
