A NORTH-EAST company has won its second contract with the BBC to work on one of its programmes.
Qurios Entertainment has been working on creating a virtual version of Rome's Colosseum for a BBC1 comedy sketch show from Iranian comedian Omid Djalili.
The visual effects company, based in Hartlepool, has also worked on both series of BBC2 sci-fi programme Hyperdrive.
Niel Bushnell, Qurios managing director, said: "Using our skills here means that TV production companies do not have to build massive sets and bring in hundreds of extras to create a scene. Thanks to some clever animation, we can create the background on computer around the actors, mixing live shots with animation."
The Qurios team won the Professional Excellence in Animation Award at the Royal Television Society Awards earlier this year, and the company has also worked on BBC1 spy thriller Spooks, and ITV series Bonkers and The Outsiders.
